The Wealdway runs from the Thames Estuary to Eastbourne on the south coast. This trail connects the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. It also connects to the Saxon Shore Way, in such a way you can run a lap. That's how the trail was envisaged back in 1970.
The path crosses a quiet country. Highlights are the wild landscape of the Ashdown Forest: woodland, heathland, with scattered small-scale agricultural farms. The limestone hills are cut by sharply eroded valleys. Also the country roads are often deeply eroded. In short, a rural route through Sussex and Kent.
